Kids Teaching "2 Kings 5"

Dear Parents,

Let's make the most of our snow day at home spending time together in the Word. Use this to help lead your family in a Bible study on "2 Kings 5". This is also an opportunity to experience the "Biggest Story" Curriculum we use with the kids at our Sunday Morning Gatherings. There are many family resources available to help reinforce what they are learning at home. You can explore these resources through our website and create a Family Bible Study Plan Together.

Let's Get Started... Read: 2 Kings 5 together

Watch the Story:

The Big Truth: The main takeaway for your kids this week is…God’s Grace is free and available to all.

Memory Verse: Behold, I know that there is no God in all the earth but in Israel. 2 Kings 5:15

Discussion Questions:

1.Was Naaman an Israelite? How did he come to know that the God of Israel is the one true God?

There is no God in all the earth but the Lord, the God of Israel.

2. In Naaman’s day was there any cure for leprosy? How did the Lord cure his leprosy? How did Jesus heal the leper who came to him? Why did God cure their leprosy?

The Lord is powerful and merciful: he cures the incurable and touches the untouchable.

3. What were some of the things Elisha did that showed he was a great prophet? How was Jesus similar to Elisha? How is Jesus greater than Elisha?

Like Elisha (the prophet of God), Jesus (the Son of God) was powerful in words and works.

4. Why didn’t Elisha take the money that Naaman offered? What did his servant Gehazi do to get money from Naaman? Why did God punish Gehazi with leprosy?

Since God’s grace is a gift, not something money can buy, don’t be greedy like Gehazi.

Craft: Gather some paper, crayons, markers, and colored pencils. Think about someone you know that is sick/needs healing to make a “get well” card for. Remind your child of the servant girl who cared about Naaman when he was sick. Have your child  fold a piece of paper in half and write and decorate the “get well” card, take time to pray over that person, and then find a time to deliver it.
