Building Beyond Easter

When you mention Easter, there’s a wide range of associations you might think about - Jesus, the Resurrection, the empty tomb, the Family Easter Hunt, family time and family photos - the list goes on! This year, we got to celebrate much of that (and more!) together as the Kingship church body. And it wasn’t only Easter Sunday, but gathering together during Holy Week for Palm Sunday, The Upper Room, and Good Friday too. Can we stop for a minute and reflect back on the time we spent together that week? God is GOOD.

I’ve always heard of Holy Week described as “building towards Easter Sunday”; which yes, our hope in Jesus’ death and resurrection comes to a head on Easter Sunday when we fully celebrate all that He has done for us! But one thing that stands out to me as unique and life giving from this past Holy Week was our Upper Room gathering. It was a prioritized time, set aside for us to break bread together and drink of the cup(s) as Jesus did with his disciples, knowing what was to come.

When we talk about Bless, Eat, and Learn -

  1. Whose life are you pouring into?

  2. Who are you talking and sharing Christ with?

  3. What are you learning from Christ?

The Upper Room gathering was a great example of us being intentional in doing this together. In the world of busy and packed schedules, it was so refreshing to prioritize this time together and be thoughtful about what Holy Week is. Beyond that, it got me thinking about how I can continue to prioritize time like this into my life because of the joy in being relational as a church body! So as you reflect back on the Easter season, be thinking about how to continue to Bless, Eat, and Learn with others in or outside of Kingship, and share the hope you have.
